Excellent product July 24, 2010 kermit (Belgium) Very small, bright and with an impressive range. The only thing that stops it from reaching perfection is the lack of a rubber grip.
Would get 10 stars if it was possible ! June 27, 2010 Lyndon (United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There are lots of reviews for this torch so I will keep mine short and sweet. Fantastic little torch ... well worth the money. This is my second Led Lenser torch and I would highly recommend the brand!

Comes in a lovely box with batteries. It's actually quite small, i expected bigger but doesn't take away from the fact that its a great torch. At least, fits in your pocket and you are off. Good buy.

Recently used on safari in South Africa, this torch was an absolute marvel. The wide angle beam flooded the path with light on the way between campfire and lodging, making sure that any hazards were easily spotted. Twist the lens barrel and it shifts from wide-angle to spotlight, with an effective 30-40m range. The spotlight proved bright enough to illuminate animals at night from a comfortably safe distance, a task that had previously been performed by a hand-held 12v halogen spotlight.
At 14cm long, the diminutive size of this torch betrays the power of it's beam. The solid, black-finished aluminium construction and neat nylon pouch ooze quality but even that doesn't prepare you for the incredible brightness of the beam. Even the hazard warning sticker on the barrel of the torch only hints at how bright it is.
It's an outdoor torch, or at least a long-range torch. Certainly you wouldn't use it for reading a book at night - it would likely be too bright for you and certainly for anyone else in the same room that was trying to sleep. The cross-hatched aluminium construction means that it's not something you want to be holding in your teeth, so it's something you need at least one hand free to use (two if you need to change the focus of the beam).
It's comfortable to hold, it's not too skinny and not too thick. The weight is modest, helped no doubt by the fact that it only uses 3 AAA batteries. A lanyard loop reduces the chance of dropping it but the construction is such that it's survived several drops with only minor scarring. The single rubber button on the end-cap operates the torch. Click it once to turn it on and again to turn it off. There are no variable brightness settings, flashing modes or anything fancy. On or off - simple electronics means less chance of things going wrong in my book. The focus of the beam is changed by rotating the lens barrel clockwise for spot, anticlockwise for flood.
If I have one gripe, it's that it takes a total of 3 twists to change completely from one mode to the other. I never found myself using anything other than either extreme wide angle or extreme spotlight, so it would be great if they could dispense with 2 of the 3 twists. But don't let that take anything away from the fact that this really is a fantastic torch and at around the £20 that I paid for it, well worth the money!
