Really good ice cream maker until stopped working! September 1, 2010 Livvy We made lovely ice creams and sorbets, using on average about once a week. However, after 6 months the liquid inside the base stopped freezing properly when it was put into the freezer- which meant the stirrer would bump on the bits of the base which hadn't frozen right. Now also the base has started to buckle, so much so the lid will not fit on at all. For the price I think it will be cheaper just to buy another one, rather than frying to get Kenwood to fix it.
Overall, it worked really well, until it started falling apart! Maybe we were just unlucky and got a dodgy one?!
get out the earplugs August 31, 2010 H. Holland (UK) Bought this cheap ice cream maker hoping to make my own low fat low cal ices- results have been pretty mediocre and very icy! the machine needs 24 hrs in the freezer beforehand and the suggestion is to keep it frozen and ready at all times. I found it took up too much valuable space. It is quite noisy when in use and you have to keep an eye on progress,so don't think you can leave it and put your feet up !
Great machine August 26, 2010 Kate Great machine. Neat and doesn't take up too much space in the cupboard.
Be aware, though that the freezer bowl does not lift out of the base, so the whole base has to go in the freezer. It's 14cm tall and 19cm across, so won't fit into shallow freezer drawers.
good gadget August 23, 2010 charl Have only used this twice so far, but have found it easy. Read previous reviews and used a funnel for putting some ingredients in and this is ok for some recipes, however does not work so well for rum and raisin ice cream! At first I thought that it was small and wouldn't make enough ice cream for the 3 of us. However there is plenty when you have filled the 1 litre bowl it is surprising how much you get, and there is some left for later! I do feel that the paddle might break if you are not careful with it. I keep my bowl in the freezer so it is ready for next time, as when i received it I was really excited but had to wait until the next day to use beacuse you have to freeze the bowl for 24 hours.
All in all, a good buy, very good price, it is not a fortune so doesn't matter if you don't use it all the time.
Kenwood Ice Cream Maker August 21, 2010 Pat Fur (Chatham England) Good product, reasonably priced. Some recipes have been more successful than others. Some mixes have frozen fast to sides of bowl and been difficult to scrape out. All ice creams have been delicious and much appreciated by grandchildren.
