Suits me better than the R7 August 14, 2010 Philco See my review on the R7 ... and you'll see why I ended up with an M6. The M6 is bulky but it does provide accurate readings and when talking BP, that is obviously important. If the R7 had the M6 reliability I'd go for the R7 every time ... and it appears that for some people the R7 is accurate ... but unfortunately not for me. But for the size of the M6 it would be a 5 star review. It can't just be tucked away in a corner somewhere or popped in your overnight bag!! Phil
Inconsistant BP monitors August 10, 2010 D. Baron (Lancashire, England) About nine months ago I bought a Lloyds BP II monitor. I very quickly realized that it wasn`t very accurate and so, each day, I decided to find the average of five readings taken over a period of twenty minutes. I then realized that the first two readings were almost always higher than the last three readings. I therefore found the average of the five readings, then the average of the last three readings, and then the average of the two averages. Each week I found the average of the daily averages.
About six or seven weeks ago I decided that it might be better if I bought a more accurate monitor. So after reading the reviews on Amazon I bought the Omron M6 because it was said to be accurate and because it was said that Omron is used in health centres by doctors.
I have been using the Omron M6 for about four or five weeks and guess what? It is even more inconsistant than the Lloyds BP II. I still, each day, have to take five readings over a period of twenty minutes. The difference between the highest and the lowest systolic reading can be as much as twenty points, and the diastolic reading,as a previous reviewer has stated,is always about seven points lower than the Lloyds BP monitor. So each day I still have to take the same proceedings as I did with the LLoyds BP monitor.
The conclusions I have reached are that any single reading with an automatic blood pressure monitor should not be relied upon to give an accurate reading, and that even finding the average of several readings can only give an approximation of blood pressure.
No more doubts about blood pressure. June 24, 2010 Arthur (Hertfordshire, UK) After occasional visits to the doctor for blood pressure to be checked it was good to receive the Omron M6 Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor and the opportunity to take ones own measurements. Received a few days after ordering the unit was well packed. Instructions were simple and after inserting the batteries the unit was used for my wife and myself without any problems. Results were consistent with the local doctors recent readings. Having a memory is a very useful feature, though the "average" record appears to cover both of us. This would not be a problem when used for one person when they are unwell.
Excellent product June 7, 2010 Rural Orchard (Suffolk, England) The Omron M6 blood pressure monitor as not the cheapest, but still very competitively priced. However it is well worth the little extra, proving easy to use and giving accurate results. The large display together with a memory function makes it an excellent purchase and one I would recommend to others.
